The U.P. ALPHA PHI OMEGA FRATERNITY was formally organized in 1951, officially recognized by the University of the Philippines in 1952 and granted charter by APO Philippines in 1953. Its sorority counterpart traces its roots from the Kappa Phi Omega organized in 1957 and renamed as the U.P. ALPHA PHI OMEGA SORORITY in 1972. UP Diliman is the seventh chapter of Alpha Phi Omega in the Philippines thus designated as ETA (H) Chapter...ETA for Excellence, a take off from UP's own motto: Honor (H) and Excellence (E).

ARTifacts: APO’s Got Talent

Brod Romeo “Jawo” C. Abasolo Jr, 09A, Bachelor of Fine Arts major in Sculpture, is one of the rising superstars in the Philippine Fine Arts. He recently won an honorable mention award in sculpture in the 42nd Annual Shell National Students Art Competition. Brod Jawo is under the tutelage of one of the most revered Filipino artists, Brod Nestor Vinluan ’68.

Brod Belmar “Bing” S. Lasam Jr., 99A, was a former student of the UP College of Fine Arts major in painting, a graduate of Bachelor in Interior Design and currently a graduate student in the UP School of Urban and Regional Planning. Brod Belmar is a member of the prestigious and exclusive PI Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Sciences. He is eyeing to enter Columbia University in New York City to study architecture or the University of Pennsylvania to study Master of Fine Arts.

UP Alpha Phi Omega’s (APO) 57th Anniversary Ball

Here is the official announcement regarding our 57th Anniversary Ball:

Date & Time: SATURDAY, FEB.13 –6 :00 pm
DINNER  buffet will be served at 7pm sharp
Venue: WACK WACK GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB, Shaw Blvd. Mandaluyong City

Attire: Strictly FORMAL (Barong Pilipino or Coat & Tie for the Brods and for the Sis/ladies, as appropriate) . Pls. comply!

PROGRAM/CEREMONIES start at 8pm.

Highlights include the Induction of officers of the Alumni Association & the Alumni Foundation,and the Awards.
Our Guest of Honor & Speaker is this year’s Sword of Lafayette awardee, Brod JESUS “Jess”  VERZOSA (Eta’72), Director General & Chief, Philippine  National Police.

Fellowship/Registration & Socials start at 6pm. We will have a photo booth from 6 to 8 pm for free photo souvenirs for you & your partners/dates/ spouses/batchmates/etc. Prizes will be raffled off later in the evening during the fellowship & dancing.(Donations are most welcome!)

There will be a live band for the dancing/jamming portion with male & female dance partners(DIs) . Of course, everyone is expected to dance with your partners/dates/ brods&sis. So, start practicing your dance steps!

COST: only 1500 pesos per head (Alumni brods/sis & partners). Attending Resident brods & sis will be charged 800pesos.
For this price– You will get a BUFFET DINNER, PHOTO Souvenirs, RAFFLE PRIZES, a LOOT BAG with giveaways, a LIVE BAND w/ dancing partners, a Souvenir Program and lots of fun & fellowship! And, yes, ROSES for all the ladies for this ANNIVERSARY (and VALENTINE’s) BALL.

P.S. We are soliciting ADS for the SOUVENIR PROGRAM. Cost is 5000 pesos for a full page & 3000pesos for a half-page (horizontal) . This is your chance to support our fundraising projects thru personal, company or batch ads. As an incentive, ad placements/solicitations will entitle you to attend the affair FREE of CHARGE! One page or 2 Half-pages will be equivalent to one free person. So, bring in 2 full pages, and you & your partner/batchmate enjoy the evening for free.

Size is 8-1/2″ x 11 for a full page & 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 for the horizontal half-page. Deadline for materials is on or before Wednesday, January 27.(again, the earlier, the better!)

Also, to all officers/board members/batch/ decade reps– kindly send or email your 2×2 photos right away for inclusion in the souvenir program.
For those who haven’t gotten their invitations & souvenir ad forms which we distributed during last Tuesday night’s fellowship at the Brother’s Moustache, please advise us by email,text or call.
