Sonny is a civil engineer who does consultancy and teaches at the premier university and technical institutes here in Sydney. He will be sharing his expertise in the Visayas come February. As he said, it is giving something back close to retirement age and he chose a remote university as his channel as it is where his service is more of value. Bro. Nomer Velasco ’67D, in a low-key and humble way of giving, donated school uniforms to 3 Gawad Kalinga schools last year. Primary school students from GK villages at Sta. Rosa Laguna and Commonwealth Q.C. were given a uniform each with spares. Teachers at the GK village at Caloocan received some too.

The Alpha Phi Omega International Collegiate Service Fraternity and Sorority – Eta Chapter held the annual UPCAT Service Project last August 1 and 2. The resident brothers and sisters distributed maps and gave directions to examinees and parents. Multicabs with Brod Jojo Binay’s name were used for roving and documentation purposes. At the end of the day, the project was a success. Many examinees said that their negative perceptions of fraternities were proven wrong. Thank you to all alumni who came, as well as visiting brothers and sisters. See you again! May we always be.
